FAMAC, as a registered Recognised Mediation Organization (RMO), upholds rigorous accreditation standards to ensure the highest level of professional competence and ethical practice among its members. FAMAC’s accreditation requirements align closely with those set by NABFAM, reflecting a commitment to national best practices in family mediation. Additionally, all FAMAC members maintain concurrent accreditation with NABFAM, further reinforcing their qualifications and adherence to the consolidated standards that govern family mediation practice across South Africa.

Training & workshops
Participants master both theoretical frameworks and practical skills through intensive hands-on workshops
Current members accreditation
- Attend two general meetings per year
- Complete two NABFAM/FAMAC accredited workshops (and/or conference) per year
- Proof of annual membership fee. Send proof of payment to info@famac.co.za
New members with no prior mediation training
- Complete the FAMAC 40-hour Mediation Training
- Complete the 12-hour Applied Psychology Training
- Complete the 12-hour Applied Law Training
- Proof of completion of three mediation sessions with At least two of these need to be with different experienced FAMAC accredited co-mediators. One of the three may be a role play at a FAMAC role play day.
- Completed assessment forms from the co-mediators. Provide mentor with feedback scale document.
- Proof of attendance of two general meetings.
- Proof of attendance of one workshop.
- Proof of registration with professional body.
- Proof of accreditation fee. Send accreditation fee proof of payment to info@famac.co.za
New members (who did other mediation training)
- Submit proof of attendance and content of another mediation course which could be approved according to the discretion of the Accreditation Committee.
- Complete the 12-hour Applied Psychology Training or submit proof of content of another course which could be approved according to the discretion of the Accreditation Committee.
- Complete the 12-hour Applied Law Training or submit proof of content of another course which could be approved according to the discretion of the Accreditation Committee.
- Proof of completed FAMAC refresher course.
- Short motivation to become an accredited FAMAC member.
- Proof of attendance of two general meetings.
- Proof of attendance of one workshop.
- Proof of registration with professional body.
